Introduction & Overview
Welcome to Duplicate Photo & File Remover (the "App"), crafted and published by JEWEALITY and lead developer Mahesh Varma. This Privacy Policy clarifies how our application handles device storage and permissions, and outlines our rigorous commitment to safeguarding your personal data.
By downloading, installing, or operating Duplicate Photo & File Remover, you acknowledge and agree to the policies and practices delineated herein. If you have questions or reservations about any term within this statement, please contact us prior to using the App.
The 100% Offline Principle (Zero Data Collection)
We adhere strictly to a privacy-first, offline-native architecture. Unlike conventional cloud-dependent utilities:
- No Cloud Uploads: Your images, videos, audio, documents, and archives never leave your Android device.
- Local Hash Verification: Hashing algorithms (such as partial MD5 and full cryptographic hashes) execute exclusively in your device's memory to group duplicates with zero external network transmission.
- No User Accounts: We do not require registration, phone numbers, email addresses, or cloud profile logins to use our duplicate cleaner.
Duplicate Photo & File Remover has zero server backends for storing user files. We cannot access, view, share, or sell your files because we simply never receive them.
Device Permissions & Why We Need Them
In order to discover duplicates and purge clutter across internal storage and removable SD cards, Android requires explicit system permissions:
- MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / All Files Access (Android 11+): Necessary for the deep storage scanner to index duplicate files across custom folders, identify zero-byte empty directories, and move items to the local Recycle Bin.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 10 and below): Used on legacy Android versions to read media files, generate duplicate comparisons, and delete redundant copies selected by the user.
These permissions are exercised strictly and solely for local file management operations requested by you. The App never uses storage access to inspect personal secrets, credentials, or private communication records.
Advertising & Monetization (Google AdMob)
Duplicate Photo & File Remover is distributed as a 100% free application. To support continuous maintenance, development, and serverless updates, the App integrates Google AdMob to display mobile advertisements (such as banners, interstitials, or native video ads).
Google AdMob does NOT have permission or access to inspect your photos, scanned files, filenames, or Recycle Bin contents. Ad delivery runs strictly within standard Google Mobile Ads SDK sandboxes.
When advertisements are loaded, Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and process standard, non-sensitive device data in accordance with Google Play Developer Policies:
- Advertising Identifier (Google Advertising ID / GAID): A resettable identifier used to provide non-personalized or personalized advertising based on user preferences.
- Device & Network Information: Anonymized IP addresses (for coarse location/country targeting), device model, manufacturer, and operating system version.
- Ad Performance & Diagnostic Data: Impression counters, click interactions, and crash analytics associated with ad rendering.
Users can manage or reset their Advertising ID at any time via Android device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset Advertising ID or by enabling "Delete advertising ID".

Recycle Bin & Deletion Safety
Our application incorporates an intelligent, local Two-Stage Deletion Protection mechanism:
- Recycle Bin Staging: When enabled in Settings, deleted files are transferred to an isolated local application sandbox rather than being destroyed immediately.
- Configurable Retention: Items remain safely recoverable on your device for your chosen retention period (e.g., 7 days, 15 days, 30 days) before automatic purging.
- Local Room Database: Records regarding deleted file paths, original timestamps, and sizes are stored exclusively in an encrypted on-device SQLite/Room database.
- User Control: You can restore any item back to its original location or trigger permanent deletion at any moment.
Device Information & Diagnostics
The App does not operate proprietary analytics or tracking SDKs. Any crash reports collected through standard Google Play Console mechanisms are completely anonymized by Google and contain no user identity or file information.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Duplicate Photo & File Remover is a general-purpose utility designed for individuals aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal identifiable information from children under 13.
In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families Policy, any AdMob requests configured for child users are set to serve strictly non-personalized advertisements with restricted data collection.
Data Security & Local Integrity
Because all indexing, comparison, and storage management tasks take place in memory and on local storage, your sensitive photos and confidential documents are protected by Android's internal sandbox security and hardware encryption.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may periodically revise this Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements, technological updates, or regulatory adaptations. Whenever modifications occur, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued usage of the application denotes acceptance of any updated terms.
